How Trackers Work
Our trackers are fitted with an onboard GPS receiver, which receives frequent transmissions from multiple GPS satellites.
The tracker then uses the data received from the GPS satellites to accurately locate it's position (calculated in longitude and latitude), it's speed (and a host of other information) in real time.
This information is then transmitted from the tracker to secure servers at the BOXgateway data centre, via the GPRS mobile phone network.
Subscribers can then access this information (both live and historical) on their computers, via the easy to use Spoton software provided.
Additionally, subscribers can obtain alerts of pre-programmed events (such as speeding, arrivals/departures, out of hours movements and many more) via e-mail or SMS.

BOX-tracker
The BOX-tracker is a vehicle tracker, ideal for cars, vans, HGVs and fleet management.

BOX-solo
The BOX-solo is a wireless, battery powered asset tracker and is ideal for caravans, horse boxes, trailers, boats and all types of plant & machinery.

Installation
BOX-tracker (Vehicle Tracker)
Installation requires a connection to the vehicle's battery and ignition switch. Three diagnostic lights indicate the status of the battery, ignition switch and GPRS connection, making it incredibly easy to guarantee the installation is working.
Measuring just 135 x 70 x 21.5mm, it is one of the smallest tracking devices currently available and with an integral GSM/GPS antenna it can be installed covertly reducing the risk of detection and tampering.
Installation and commissioning is carried out by a fully trained Box Telematics engineer and can be arranged to suit customer requirements:
- Standard Installation (weekdays, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm) is included
- Out of Hours Installation (weekdays outside those hours and/or weekends) is available for an additional £20.00
BOX-solo (Asset Tracker)
The BOX-solo does not require installation. It has an internal GSM/GPS antenna, is powered by a long-life rechargeable internal battery and is fitted with a tamper alarm.
Tracking Data
Our BOX-trackers and BOX-solo trackers provide the following real time/historical data about tracked vehicles/mobile assets:
- Accurate position (calculated in longitude and latitude)
- Journey start, stop and end times
- Route history
- Speed
- Odometer readings
This information is available via the easy to use Spoton PC based software provided.
Alerts
Our trackers can also report pre-programmed events by way of an alert.
Standard events include:
- Movement during/outside working hours
- Arrival/departure to/from a specified location
- Entering/exiting a specified area (Geofencing)
- Speeding (user set parameters)
- Early/late arrival at appointment
- Entering/exiting a congestion zone
- Ignition on/off
- Excessive engine idle
Optional event:
- True Speed (speeds in excess of prevailing speed limit)

These alerts are available via the Spoton PC based software provided, e-mail and, optionally, SMS.
Spoton Tracking Software
Spoton is a simple and easy to use, PC based information system which displays the following real time/historical data about tracked vehicles/mobile assets:
- Accurate position (calculated in longitude and latitude)
- Journey start, stop and end times
- Route history
- Speed
- Odometer readings

The software can also display alerts of pre-programmed tracker events.

Use of the software (including updates) is included in the monthly subscription charge.
Please note that the Spoton software is currently only suitable for PCs using Windows (XP/Vista). Versions compatible with other operating systems will be available in the future.
